Your Harryhausen Moment of the Day

More cowboys and dinosaurs, courtesy of The Valley of Gwangi (1969).

Well, okay, pterodactyls technically AREN'T dinosaurs -- per scientific definition, dinosaurs are ancient land reptiles. The ancient flying and aquatic reptiles are actually considered to be in different scientific groups separate from dinosaurs ...

ANYWAY, the movie still shows a buncha cowboys on horseback getting buzzed by a big, scary prehistoric reptile. That's good enough for me!

I really have to rent this film.

Or do some random drawings of cowboys and robots instead of studying Italian Literature.

Ha ha! Crazy purple pterodactyl! It looks like it should be the mascot for Boo Berry or something.

Feh, the cowboys are probably safe. Weren't Pterasaurs mainly fish-eaters? I think they also had hollow bones, so it isn't as though they could pick up a horse and rider and fly off with it!

On the other hand, it really does look cool.

In the movie, the Pterosaur actually DOES get taken out by the cowboys. There's a nifty scene of the downed Ptero getting sat upon and repeatedly punched in the head. It's downright sad.
